Chapter 58
Mere outward service of God is in vain. Those people were just going through the motions. God hates and despises this. Today I must be careful about this . Never think "I have the truth' and settle back. That is the time Satan will worm his way in.
v.13b-14a "if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord," I should come humbly before God, always seeking to do his will. Not do things the way I want . Going through the motions of worship, QT, repentance, will not please God if I deliverately disobeying Him in other areas of my life.

God's response to our selfish offerings/behaviour:
"Oh, that one of you would shut the temple doors, so that you would not light useless fires on my altar."
